Obituary For Jo Ann Trick

Jo Ann Trick passed away in the comfort of her San Diego home on July 1, 2022. She was born on January 25, 1940, in Portland, Oregon, to Hugo and Pauline Lindgren.

Jo Ann graduated from Long Beach High School in 1957, then began an 18-year career in the dental field, working as a dental assistant and an office manager. During that time, she moved to Santa Barbara, where she and her former husband, Jim McClaren, raised their two daughters. In 1980, she moved to the Bay area and worked for Tandem Computers as a manager responsible for contracts in seven different countries.

Jo Ann was very creative. She loved to sew and even made clothes for her daughters’ Barbie and Troll collections when the children were young. She also enjoyed decorating her home and made beautiful decorations for every holiday, taking special care with her extensive Christmas collection.

She was passionate about her family, golf, gardening and travel. She was a member of the Rancho Bernardo Inn Women’s Golf Club for 20 years, serving as president in 2009 and 2010. She also created beautiful home gardens, chaired the Landscape Committee for the San Pasqual Valley Homeowners Association, and helped start a Landscape Committee at the Silvergate retirement community in Rancho Bernardo. She also volunteered for many years with the Assistance League of Escondido.

Jo Ann and husband Robert Trick frequently traveled abroad, visiting every continent except Antarctica. She loved Egypt and South Africa, but Paris was her favorite travel destination.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy McClaren, in 1998. She is survived by her husband, Robert Trick of San Diego; daughter Lorrie McClaren Vercoe; two grandsons, Trevor Vercoe and Austin Vercoe; brothers Ron Lindgren of Grants Pass, Oregon, and David Lindgren of Culpeper, Virginia; and sister Nancy Hallinen of Vancouver, Washington.

Jo Ann will be deeply missed by all her family and friends. She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing wife, mom, grandma, sister, friend and all-round good person.

She will be buried at Miramar National Cemetery, and a celebration-of-life service will be held for her later this year.
