Obituary For Roseanne Bernice MacMillan

Roseanne Bernice MacMillan passed away on Sunday morning, April 24, 2016, at Escondido's Palomar Hospital, at 1:31 AM of respiratory failure. She was born on March 21, 1926 in Amery Wisconsin to Joe and Esther Lindstrom Stich. She was the last of nine girls.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Rockwell, of Mesa, Arizona, her only child who was from her first marriage to Theodore Gawle.

Roseanne spent most of her working life working as a secretary, her longest job working for Presto Industries as a secretary to the president of the company. In 1970 she married Laverne Washington Rockwell, of Chippewa Falls Wisconsin and was married to him until he died in 1993. They resided in Escondido California during the later years of their marriage. Roseanne is survived by six step grandchildren, two step daughters in law, and one stepson from that marriage. Her last marriage was to Milford Macmillan of San Marcos California. Roseanne took care of "Bud" in his later years and nursed him until his death.

She ended her life in a series of assisted-living homes and nursing care facilities until she reached her 90th birthday and then passed away a few weeks later. Additionally, Roseanne is survived by many nieces and nephews who were born to her eight sisters. Roseanne was a feisty, fun loving, honest, wisecracking lady who loved her adopted state of California and who enjoyed life to the fullest until she was no longer able. In her later years she lost most of her hearing and vision, and unfortunately couldn't function very well toward the end. Roseanne also left behind a good friend named Wendy Rienti who helped her out a lot during her last years.

I have so many wonderful memories of Roseanne. The one that really sticks out in my mind is her friendship with my mother Bernie. They met in the pool at the apartments where they lived in Escondido. That friendship went on for almost 30 yrs. and then my mother passed away. In those 30 years they use to take road trips had no idea where they were going, but would get in the car (Roseanne always drove) and away they would go. They would end up in all kinds of neat places. Another more recent memory is Christmas 2014. We had a gathering at our house and she was included. (She was family) Well we had a single male friend join us and he was about 20yrs younger than her and she latched on to him and joked and laughed and had so much fun. She was so funny and everyone loved her. How could you not. I miss her terribly, but have so many special and wonderful memories of her and mom and her and me and her and my husband and me. I feel very blessed Roseanne was in my life. Rest in Peace my dear friend and now you can hear and see and you and mom can drive Dad and Rocky crazy:) Love you forever and always Wendy
